Right! So! That didn't happen. But I have still been planning and trying to finagle, with our small budget, a way that we can get rid of 4 kids and run away long enough to go on a cruise and celebrate our 10 years of ball and chainism!! ;) As this continues.... and I look at the market.... and the economy...... and just the other day I had someone call me up ringing the bell of alarm that the end of the world and country are coming (don't worry....... I think we'll make it! :) and I also keep seeing statements like: " We urge all Latter-day Saints to be prudent in their planning, to be conservative in their living, and to avoid excessive or unnecessary debt."
Thomas S. Monson, “To Learn, to Do, to Be,” Liahona, Nov 2008, 60–62, 67–68
O....K..... So.... What!?!?! Should I not go??? Ok I admit! I don't have all of my debt paid off!!!! And I don't have a years worth of food storage! Am I the "Foolish Man" to go frivolously frolicking off on my little fantasy get away for my anniversary?!?! I can see it now! We go play on the love boat! Have ourselves a grand old time and the day after we come back, ARMAGEDDON! Hell Fire and Damnation!!!!! And we will be the FOOLISH grasshoppers begging from our ant neighbors who had more sense than to think that the prophets were kidding! AAAHHHHHH!!!!!

So there's my dilemma I've been having internal arguments with myself about over the past months. And I don't know if I'm just being paranoid.... or if being wise and responsible will make me happier in the end. What ta do? What ta do?

Your putting money into the struggling buisness of Cruise Shipperey. You are helping the dying economy survive.
I hear ya loud and clear- we have planned and unplanned our family vacation like 10 times in the last couple months. Ranging from a family cruise to disneyland to rv'ing through nat'l parks.... But we keep coming back to SAVING. Well we are going to go to Disneyland....just in a few...
BUT for YOU- I say do it. One: the economy is struggling so bad- the cruise rates are unbelievably LOW! (travelzoo.com!!!) You and your hub can do a 7 day carribbean cruise for about $299-$499 a person! You cannot beat that- and airlines are slashing prices! So, yes times are tuff. Cut back in everyday things, but you owe to yourself to indulge if you do it wisely. You saved for it- it's not like your charging the whole trip. GO do it and don't look back. I'll give ya some of my years supply of food if hell fire comes calling the day after....LOL
Are you kidding me?!?! Come out here and go on a cruise! If you are really worried about it stop thinking about it! You only have one 10-year anniversary and you need to celebrate the milestone - so few make it that long. Money will come and go and with busy schedules so will your time together - make it count!
I love your inner struggle! I agree, but not in any helpful decisive way.
GO!! Look at the positive-
You'll be stimulating the economy. Which is your civic duty.
Plus, you'll come back all refreshed and ready to start canning and storing and hoarding. You'll be a new woman with new motivation!
Yeah, I totally get that. I'm trying to decide if I should blow my savings and go to Machu Picchu this summer. Think I'll save that trip for next summer, but I'm with the others here that think you should go for it! You only have one 10-year anniversary!
What did you decide?
